Conventions of a front page

I have studied front pages of magazines, and these are the conventions that are on alot of magazines:
  • Medium close-ups of the main image/ icon/ person who the main story is about
  • Large title which is indivdival to everything else
  • 2 or 3 colours on the front page
  • Images are set in front of the title
  • Words like 'Extra!' or 'Exclusive' makes the consumer believe they're getting their money's worth
  • A colour scheme, no more then 5 colours are used and normally has one colour that will be a theme
  • Small amount of different fonts and size's
  • Expression on the face convey's different attitudes
  • 'Anchorage'- text is added to make the reader see the image
  • Issue number and price are usually in a small font
  • Coverlines indicates sub-stories and in a entertaining style to lure the reader in
  • Masthead/ title creates 'Brand- identity'
  • Capital letters are used for main conventions
  • Competitions and freebee's are emphosied
